From Amanda Lovelace, a poetry collection in four parts: the princess, the damsel, the queen, and you. The first three sections piece together the life of the author while the final section serves as a note to the reader. This moving book explores love, loss, grief, healing, empowerment, and inspiration.
I think I have succeeded on my adventure into poetry. I’ve found 2 collections that I loved in the same week. This and Milk & Honey.
The themes covered are sad and dark at times (trigger warning for suicidal thoughts) but the writing was beautiful and somehow there was a sense of hope and love being brought through.
There were many standout sections, but the final ‘chapter’ entitled “You” was just breathtaking. Life-changing might be a bit of an extreme word to use, but it certainly isn’t far off. It made me feel. Gave me a lump in my throat. A sense of melancholy and hope all at once.
I am at a loss for words as to how amazing this really was.
Please give it a go, even if you don’t think poetry is your thing!
