Red Sonja Vol 1:Queen of Plagues by Gail Simone (Review)

Red Sonja, the She-Devil with a Sword, intends to pay back a blood debt
owed to the one man who has gained her respect… even if it means leading a doomed army to their certain deaths! Who is Dark Annisia, and how has this fearsome warrior accomplished what no god nor demon has been able to do: force Sonja to her knees in surrender? An epic tale of blood, lust, and vengeance, “Queen of Plagues” takes Red Sonja from the depths of her own grave to the heights of battlefield glory.

I read this solely because of one of my reading challenges, specifically the BookRiot Read Harder. The prompt was “read a superhero comic with a female lead”. This fit the bill perfectly, but I didn’t really enjoy it. It looked gorgeous, but I think I lost some of the experience by having a digital rather than a physical copy. The story was fine, the characters were well drawn and it was truly lovely to look at, but it just didn’t float my boat.
